Private Fears In Public Places (1994)

Note: Private Fears In Public Places was announced in the Stephen Joseph Theatre In The Round's winter 1993 / 1994 brochure. However, despite tickets being sold for the play, it was never written and instead replaced by Communicating Doors. This page contains what details were announced of the production for historical research. Dates, company members and staging details are included to indicate what was planned for the play had it been performed.
Please note this unwritten play bears no relation or resemblance to the 2004 play with the same title written by Alan Ayckbourn.

Notes

> Private Fears In Public Places was scheduled as the first new play of 1994 to be performed at the Stephen Joseph Theatre In The Round. However, when Alan found difficulties in writing it, it was replaced in the schedule by a different new Ayckbourn play Communicating Doors.
> The play was extensively advertised in the Stephen Joseph Theatre In The Round's winter 1993 / 1994 brochure and in the media. The play's plot was advertised in the brochure as: “At the airport, Jessica waves a fond farewell to he husband. Then a chance encounter changes her life. How well does she know, how far she can trust herself?”
> In 2004, Alan Ayckbourn re-used the title
Private Fears In Public Places for a new play. However, the play has nothing in common with the play originally intended for that title.
